Ford Fiesta Delayed Again

The steady launch of the Ford Fiesta hit another snag last week as shipments that were en route to American dealerships were halted to inspect the quality of a part that did not meet the manufacturer's standards.  Nearly 6,800 Fiestas are being inspected for a third-party-produced part that Ford has declined to name. Ford to Give Fiesta Buyers $50 Gift Card for Delays

Because of shipping delays accompanying the 2011 Ford Fiesta, Ford says it has issued gift cards as a thank you/apology.  Buyers who’ve waited longer than a month for their Fiestas have been or will be issued a MasterCard gift card worth $50. Saab Confirms 9-4X Unveiling at 2010 L.A. Auto Show

Today, Saab confirmed with organizers of the L.A. Auto Show  that the much-delayed 9-4X crossover will make its world debut at the show this November.  The 9-4X was scheduled to be released earlier, but it was held up during GM’s bankruptcy and subsequent spinoff of Saab to boutique carmaker Spyke r. Utility Sets Special Rate for Charging EVs

Now that we know the prices of some of the upcoming electric vehicles  and even the cost of the chargers , one question remains: How much will these cars raise your electricity bill?  The state of Michigan and Detroit Edison believe they can alleviate those fears. Feds Haven’t Found a Toyota Electronics Glitch

In a report to Congress today, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration officials say the agency hasn’t found an electronics problem in any of the Toyotas it has investigated as part of its probe into millions of recalled vehicles. The statements to Congress come less than a month after the Wall Street Journal reported that NHTSA couldn’t find any faults after gaining access to Toyota’s electronic data recorders. America’s Third Largest Domestic Automaker: Honda?

If the Cars.com American-Made Index has done anything, it has raised the level of discussion on what defines an American car. New Ford Explorer Gets First Curve Control System

Electronic stability control in the new 2011 Ford Explorer will come with an upgrade called curve control, which helps the vehicle perform better if a driver goes into a curve too quickly. By monitoring the steering-wheel angle, wheel speed and vehicle input 100 times per second, stability control can cut power to the engine and apply the brakes if the driver veers off course. GM Readies Stock Offering

The Detroit News reports that General Motors is planning to launch a public stock offering as early as next week. If that news is correct, the offering would happen months sooner than most analysts and officials had predicted.   Most of them believed that an initial public stock offering would wait until the value of the company and its stock would recoup nearly all the $50 billion the government loaned GM for a 60.8% stake in the company.
